Path2Peaks – Frequently Asked Questions
We know planning a mountain adventure comes with lots of questions. Here are the answers to the ones we get asked most often.
About Our Trips
Q: Do I need to be very fit to join a hike?
A: Not necessarily! We offer hikes for all levels, from gentle walks to challenging scrambles. We’ll discuss your fitness level beforehand and recommend a route that suits you.
Q: How big are your groups?
A: We keep our groups small (usually 6–8 people) to make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience. Private guiding is also available for individuals, couples, and groups.
Q: Can children join a hike?
A: Yes – children over 10 can join most of our easier routes, provided they are accompanied by a parent or guardian and have suitable clothing/footwear.
Q: What happens if the weather is bad?
A: Safety is our top priority. We check forecasts regularly and may adjust the route or rearrange the date if conditions are unsafe. We’ll always keep you informed.
What to Bring
Q: Do I need special equipment?
A: You’ll need sturdy walking boots, waterproof clothing, warm layers, food, and water. We provide group safety equipment (maps, compasses, first aid kit).
Q: Can I borrow gear?
A: We have a limited supply of walking poles and helmets (for scrambling routes). Let us know in advance if you’d like to borrow them.
Booking & Payment
Q: How do I book a hike?
A: You can book directly via our website using the Book Now button. We’ll confirm your place and send you all the details you need.
Q: Do you require a deposit?
A: Yes – we ask for a 50% deposit to secure your place. The full balance will be due 10 days before the event.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: Cancellations made more than 14 days before the event receive a full refund. Within 14 days, we can reschedule your trip free of charge or offer a partial refund.
Safety & Experience
Q: Are your guides qualified?
A: Yes – all Path2Peaks guides are qualified Mountain Leaders with first aid training, insurance, and local knowledge.
Q: Do you provide insurance?
A: We have public liability insurance, but we recommend that participants arrange their own personal travel or activity insurance.
Q: What if I can’t reach the summit?
A: That’s absolutely fine – your guide will make sure you have a safe and enjoyable day, whether or not you reach the top.
